The Shore Porters Society - Estd. 1498

The Shore Porters Society was founded in 1498 and is one of the world's oldest transportation companies. It is a member of the British Association of Removers (BAR) and of FIDI (Fédération Internationale des Déménageurs Internationaux).

The society conforms to the FIDI Anti-trust charter and to FIDI's Anti Bribery and Anti Corruption Charters. It is financially bonded by BAR Overseas Group and adheres to the British Association of Removers Alternative Dispute Resolution Scheme. It is an independently audited member of FIDI. The society provides self storage facilities.

Removals, part-load shipping, packing and secure storage recur throughout feedback on this long-established Aberdeen firm, and the accounts consistently highlight how smoothly each stage is handled. A number of customers describe relocations that could have proved stressful, including moves within the north-east, long-distance part-loads of auction furniture and an international shipment to Canada, yet report that the process felt straightforward from the first enquiry to final delivery.

Something that features in review after review is the quality of communication, with customers mentioning video calls used to prepare quotes, regular progress updates and guidance through customs paperwork. Named members of staff attract frequent praise, among them Craig for his help in the office, Kerrie and Andrew for their professionalism, and Doreen for steering a complex overseas move.

Reviewers also emphasise punctual, courteous crews who packed belongings carefully, sometimes wrapping items the customer had not expected to be covered, and who adapted without fuss when plans changed at short notice. Competitive quotes based on descriptions of the goods, friendly office support and careful handling of furniture shipped from Germany and Cheshire feature as well, together with packing materials delivered ahead of the move. The impression is of a porters' team whose organisation and expertise leave customers describing the experience as effortless.
